Benefits that belong to a believer in Jesus Christ!
The New Birth in Jesus Christ is wonderful. There are immediate changes and benefits. Then there are changes that happen gradually.
In the new birth, we instantly become a new creation in Jesus Christ. We are, by the Holy Spirit, baptized into the body of Christ. (1 Cor 12:13)
We enter into the abundant life given us by Jesus Christ. (John 10:10)
Jesus is now our good and great Shepherd leading us beside the still waters, into green pastures and into the paths of right standing with God. We immediately are led by the Holy Spirit in our daily life. (Rom 8:14)
We have the Holy Spirit guiding us into all truth. (John 16:13)
We immediately become a child of God, with all the rights that go with it. (Gal 3:26)
We immediately have right standing with God through Jesus Christ. (Rom 5:17-18)
We immediately have rest for our souls. (Matt 11:28-30)
We immediately have Jesus Christ interceding for us. (Heb 7:25)
We immediately are freed from the control of the powers of darkness and now are in God’s kingdom where there is joy, life and liberty. (Col 1:13)
We immediately have Jesus Christ, who is the light of the world living inside of us. We become lights in the midst of darkness. (Matt 5:14)
We immediately have the right to use the Name of Jesus in prayer. (John 16:23-24)
We immediately can use the Name of Jesus to resist the devil and command him to leave our thoughts, lives and household. (James 4:7)
We immediately have the right to speak to circumstances in the Name of Jesus and command them to come into line with the Word of God. We can speak to storms in our life and In the Name of Jesus, say ‘Peace be Still.’ (Mark 4:39-40)
We immediately enjoy the benefits of being a child of God. Ps 103:2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
We can ask God to forgive us and He does through Jesus Christ. (I Jhn 1:9)
We can receive healing for our soul and body though Jesus Christ. (1Pet 2:24)
We can walk in God’s divine protection. We can have the angels of God watching over us and protecting us day and night: (Ps 34:7)
We immediately are given the earnest of the Spirit in our lives. 2 Cor 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
We are immediately sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption. Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
We have the promise that no one is able to pluck us out of the Father’s Hand. John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
We have goodness and mercy following us. (Ps 23:6)
The same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead is inside of us, quickening our mortal bodies! (Rom 8:11)
Follow on
Heb 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
We show what happens to us inside by following the example of Jesus Christ and being physically baptized in water. (Matt 3:15-16, Acts 2:38 and Acts 8:36-38)
Matt 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
Jesus gave the parable of the sower in the gospels. We see four results of the seed being sown on the ground. The best result being that of the seed taking root and bringing forth much fruit. The lesser case being of the seed growing up but becoming unfruitful. The next case of the seed briefly taking root and then dying has been compared to a professing Christian. That is, someone who started out as a Christian but did not follow through. The last case being that of the seed being sown but not taking root.
In all instances of the sowing, the seed, which can be compared to the Word of God, had the same potential power. The difference lay in the soil. That is to say, the individual has choices that will affect the seed sown in their life. Corrections and adjustments can be made in our lives. An unfruitful life can become fruitful. A professing Christian can become a fruitful Christian. A lost person can be saved through Jesus Christ! As long as we are in the land of the living, let us say yes to Jesus in every area of our life!
This brings us to the person who delivers the seed and waters the ground. God uses Christians to preach the Word and lead others to receive Jesus Christ as Savior.
The apostle Paul recognized the part of intercession (prayer) in the new birth of a believer. (Gal 4:19)
Each new Christian has to be attached to a local fellowship of believers where they can be nurtured and grown into strong Christians. The seed planted in our vies can be grown into a large tree that in turn brings forth much fruit (Psa 1:2,3)
Matt 4:19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” May we as Christians always be about our Master’s business:
Matt 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20″teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
May we always be preaching and living the Word of God so that Jesus is there working with us and confirming the Word with signs following.(Mark 16:15-20)
Heaven to Gain
1 Cor 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Matt 25:21 “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
Rev 21: 4 “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” 5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” 6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. 22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. 24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. 25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). 26 And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. 27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Rev 22:1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. 4 They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. 5 There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever. 12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. 13 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” 14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
What to Shun
God wants you to make it to heaven. God will help you and empower you to live right. At the same time, we get to choose the right things in life. We get to turn away from wrong things. We get to overcome temptations. We get to say yes to God and no to temptations. We can say, ‘No, in the Name of Jesus!’ to things that would try to distract us from living for God.
Below are Bible verses to help you. There are many good Bible aids found in Christian bookstores. Find a Bible believing local church or body of believers that you can be a part of.
Matt 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. “Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Titus 2:12-14 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Gods wants us to shun or turn away from all evil. We want to live as close to God as possible. We want to live as far away from the devil and ungodliness as possible. God gives us grace to overcome sin through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Ps 1:1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
There is a blessing just for staying away from ungodliness, away from sinful places and from being scornful.
1 Cor 15:33 Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
2 Cor 13:7 Now I pray to God that you do no evil, not that we should appear approved, but that you should do what is honorable, though we may seem disqualified.
1Thes 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
God want us to end up in heaven. However, for those who choose against God and receiving His Son, Jesus Christ, there is a place called hell. There is no water in hell!
Luke 16:23-25 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Matt 13:41-42 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Rev 21:8 “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
Sadly, there are people who have been offended by the church or by Christians. Each person must one day stand before God and answer for their words and actions unless they have been forgiven and covered by the Blood of Jesus Christ. Don’t let a past hurt stop you from being in heaven. Look past people and look to Jesus, who alone can save us and give us eternal life!
